Our clients desired an uncluttered design, kept true to the modern architectural style of the family home. A kitchen that was in scale of the surrounding space, with a working scullery, an island with seating and a sense of ‘rawness’ to the design.

The kitchen is located at the end of a large open plan living and dining zone. Taking advantage of the rectangular shape, the kitchen space is set out in a galley format extending into a working pantry. The pantry provides the luxury of separating food preparationfrom the main space when entertaining. It’s equipped with a 2nd sink, fridge, mw, dishwasher, wine storage, hidden and exposed storage for the avid cook. In the main kitchen, a honed marble stone bench & splash back runs the length of the back wall, housing the cooking zone and accompanied with ample drawer storage. On the opposite side, the preparation & washing zones are set o by the use of a large pro le ‘Raw’ cast concrete bench. Practical storage has been hidden behind cabinets including integrated appliances which minimize the clutter and maintain clean lines.

A dark slatted timber custom louver conceals a heating system, without the need of steel grills plastered to the kitchen ‘money shot’, also providing textural e ect, whilst adding layers of structure to the large volume dictated by the architecture. The striking dark veneer contrasts with the rawness of concrete and honed marble. This draws the kitchen into its surroundings, emphasizing the use of colour, light and texture which grounds the sense of volume and modern ‘Raw’ form in this kitchen.
