Education Information
It is the goal of the NKBA to lead and maintain an educated workforce resulting in a higher level of professionalism in the kitchen and bathroom industry of New Zealand.
Courses are available in modular form, enabling progressive skills development. Each course is supported with a comprehensive NKBA training manual. Tutors use a variety of teaching aids and technology to cater for all student learning styles and ensure the classroom is interactive.
COURSE PROGRAMME
NKBA Kitchen Specialist / Bathroom Specialist
A five-day course introducing the Kitchen/Bathroom, materials
and appliances, basic cabinet construction and elementary plan
drawing.
Once attended the student then completes an assignment
and is then assessed and verified leaving them then with a National
Certificate in Kitchen Design level 3.

All courses are subject to minimum number of student enrolments,
and may be cancelled or postponed at the discretion of the NKBA.
In such an event the participants will be advised immediately,
and their fees credited to next available course or refunded in
full.
As these are self funding courses a 50% deposit or full course
fee must accompany your registration. Fees must be paid in full
2 weeks prior to commencement of the course. Cheques are to be
made out to the "NKBA Education".
No refunds will be made after the course begins. Cancellations
incur a penalty fee.
All courses operate on first paid, first in basis.
The NKBA, in conjunction with
the Joinery ITO, has developed the National Certificate in Kitchen
Design Level 3. This qualification covers the requirements of
the current NKBA 1-week Kitchen Specialist Course, and brings
our training under the umbrella of the Joinery ITO Traineeship
programmes. Learners who sign up for the course through JITO become
JITO trainees, and benefit from the government subsides that JITO
administers. All JITO trainees must be employed in the wider joinery
or design industries. JITO will invoice you for the credit fees
and administration as per their brochure.
When you sign up for the Kitchen Specialist Course the full cost of the course is S1012.50. After attending the week long course and complete all the required unit standards you will gain the National Certificate in Kitchen Design.
