A beautiful Pohutukawa tree creates privacy for this smooth kitchen which is bathed in sunlight and has great views to an iron sand beach.
The clients asked that I incorporate timber to create a “natural feeling” but contemporary minimalist kitchen. Black cabinets with non-handle details and the timber ceiling and side panels were chosen. The cabinetry is contrasted by the iron sand concrete ooring.
A oating style island features a satin stainless-steel bench top with owing space for eating and entertaining. The back wall bench top and splash backs are Dekton Domoos which allow generous cooking space and added durability whilst creating the feel of a dark and moody commercial cooking space with plenty of lighting when needed. The over cabinets feature satin stainless steel to blend with the island and the minimal sleek feel.
The adjoining scullery was added so the aesthetics of the main kitchen are not compromised by the functional elements of food preparation, cooking appliances and food storage. The fridge was also added to the scullery to keep the main space clutter free, therefore a Cool Drawer was added to the main kitchen for ease of access. This kitchen is all about minimalism with a natural touch and a clean uncluttered look.
