DNKBA Scholarships

The Designers of NKBA (DNKBA) award up to four scholarships per year to New Zealand Diploma in Kitchen Design students who demonstrate a high level of industry potential. Recipients receive financial and mentoring support for the duration of their studies.

Scholarship Details

Scholarships are valued at $5,500 (including GST, if applicable) and can be used towards:

• BCITO course fees to a maximum value of $5,000 (including GST, if applicable)
• travel/accommodation expenses to attend the DNKBA Scholarship Recipients and Sponsors Day in Auckland on 12 June 2024
• ticket and travel/accommodation expenses to attend the 2024 NKBA Conference in Christchurch on 4 and 5 July 2024
• travel/accommodation expenses to attend New Zealand Diploma in Kitchen Design block courses.

DNKBA and the Scholarship Sponsors also offer mentoring opportunities (in person and/or online) throughout the scholarship term.

Applications

2024 Scholarships are open to Applicants who:

• are enrolled in the New Zealand Diploma of Kitchen Design via BCITO;
• attend Block Course One (OJT1) between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024; and
• have worked as a kitchen industry professional for a minimum of 6 months in a design capacity.

The following information should be included with your application:

• your CV
• contact details for an industry referee
• summaries of why you have applied for a scholarship, why you have chosen a career in kitchen/bathroom design, your long-term goals, and why you should be awarded the scholarship
• examples of your design work, including plans/elevations and before and after photographs (if available)
• any relevant design qualifications/achievements.

All applications must be fully submitted by 2 April 2024.

Selection Process

• NKBA will acknowledge receipt of applications within 3 working days.
• The DNKBA Advisory Group will review applications after the closing date and select Recipients based on the quality of their application and their industry potential.
• Successful Recipients will be notified by 1 May 2024.
• Recipients will be announced by NKBA in May 2024.
• Recipients will receive a DNKBA Scholarship Certificate at the NKBA Student Awards event at the NKBA Conference in July 2024.
